HOW FAST IS A T1 LINE?
Generally, T1 and Multiple T1 internet services with speeds scaling from 1.5 to 15 Mb are practical for smaller and medium sized offices. Unlike other services, a T1 operates symmetrically by simulataneously uploading and downloading data at identical rated speeds. On a lower, more technical level, a T1 (DS1) is comprised of twenty-four (24) Ds0 channels. A channelized T1 completely aggregates all of the channels, allocating full use to a single application or group. Alternatively, individual channels can be aggregated in various combinations for multiple applications or departments. A T1 is also relatively flexible and can be provisioned for any mix of internet access, voice and wide area networking scenarios.

Large organizations are likely to require and gravitate towards even higher capacity services. For numerous legitimate purposes, businesses continue to consume more and more bandwidth every year. The larger your organization, the greater the challenge and pressure to continually leverage broadband telecom systems and infrastructure investments. Emerging services, particularly those positioned at the internet protocol level offer tremendous opportunities for customers to economically gain bandwidth and best manage growth and total costs of ownership. For example, carrier ethernet allows customers to plug their LANs directly into carrier networks, completely eliminating the operation, administration & maintenance related expenses of legacy time division multiplexing (TDM) and other intermediary connection equipment. Given the many advantages of IP and ethernet based approaches, carriers are rapidly deploying these internet access services over their existing copper, and newer fiber and wireless networks.
